The Orginal BBQ is back and it's AWESOME.
This is the same place that was on 21 University Street, with the black and white checkered floors. The checkered floors are back, but only downstairs in this retro chic (fully stocked) bar. Upstairs it's...cozy. Homey without the faux Texan BS Dallas BBQs can have.
So it looks good, what else?
Well, I'm telling you guys, the owner must be psychic, or a genius, or a genius psychic. Or, you know, just in touch with reality?
The prices, oh god the prices, they are some of the best I've seen in the city. The prices are dirt cheap, even on the alcohol.
The well drinks are big, strong, and cheap, even when Happy Hour isn't in effect. The old Monster drinks are still here, now in 12 and 20 oz sizes.
The hambugers are 6 dollers even and utterly delish. Tax, not tip, is included in all prices, though I hear it might be going up soon as this was intended as a promotion. But at 10 bucks for a full rack of ribs, or a steak, including sides, I don't have much room to complain.
Noticing something about those prices? Me too. Everything is either full dollar, or blank fifty. No more pennies, and you'll always have change for the meter if you decide to drive over. (Why you would with the West 4th St. station right around the corner I don't know...)
